ABOUT ME

I worked in creative industry for 25 years before training to become a therapist, mostly in and around music. I had therapy myself along the way when I felt stuck, or unsure about where to go next, and it was of enormous benefit to me, especially while I was working in that environment which, at that time, didn't concern itself too much with mental wellbeing.

I was drawn to Cognitive Hypnotherapy because of its immediacy. You don’t need to spend years going over and over things that make you feel sad. Sessions can be surprising, moving, upsetting, uplifting… never boring. Change can happen right there in the room, often in the first couple of sessions. I sometimes deal with difficult topics and we might even be talking about subjects you spend your whole life trying to avoid. I take this very seriously but my clients are constantly amazed how fun the overall experience can be. Whether you are hoping to overcome something that only rears its head occasionally - perhaps a fear of flying, or public speaking - or you want to change something that you find is holding you back in some way each and every day, I can work with you to make the changes you are hoping for.

THE WAY I WORK

As a Cognitive Hypnotherapist I use elements drawn from Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Positive Psychology along with EFT (Tapping) and EMI (a simplified form of EMDR). Which techniques are used and when will be different for each client. The work is wrapped up in a particular form of hypnotic language, based on current scientific understanding of what our brains respond to. As well as the work we do in the room, I will give you recordings to listen to away from the sessions, which I write and record specifically for each client to meet their individual needs.
