What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical, structured talking therapy that focuses on the links between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour. Rather than focusing solely on the past, CBT looks at how patterns of thinking show up in your day-to-day life now, and works with you to build more helpful ways of responding.
What to expect from a session
Sessions are collaborative and goal-focused. You and your therapist will typically identify a specific difficulty to work on, explore the thoughts and behaviours connected to it, and try out practical strategies between sessions. Many therapists use structured exercises, thought records, or gradual exposure techniques depending on what you’re working through.
Who CBT may be suitable for
CBT is widely used for anxiety, depression, phobias, panic disorder, OCD, and stress-related difficulties. It tends to suit people who like a structured, practical approach and are comfortable trying things out between sessions.
Online and face-to-face options
Our CBT therapists offer both online and face-to-face sessions, including at our Central London consulting rooms — you can discuss what works best for you when you get in touch.
