About

FACE TO FACE SESSIONS AVAILABLE AT EC1V

I’m an experienced independent therapist running my own private practice. I offer sessions online and in hired consulting rooms in Central London.

I am an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and accredited Interpersonal Psychotherapist with 17 years of experience working in a busy NHS service. In my current NHS role, I provide comprehensive clinical assessments and psychological interventions for individuals experiencing a range of mental health challenges, including depression and various anxiety disorders such as panic disorder, health anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety, specific phobias, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I am also a clinical supervisor to both qualified CBT therapists and therapists in training.

I am passionate about helping people find more effective ways of managing their difficulties. While we all endeavor to navigate life’s challenges in the best way we know, our coping mechanisms may not always produce the outcomes we hope for. We may then decide to reach out for professional guidance that can provide valuable insight, enabling us to make meaningful changes that lead to greater emotional well-being and fulfillment.

Alongside supporting people in finding new approaches to managing their current life challenges, a core aspect of my work is helping people recognize and harness their inner strength and personal resources, which I believe is an essential step in fostering resilience and empowering them on their journey towards positive transformation.

The way I work

I offer a warm, non-judgemental, and empathetic therapeutic space where you will be able to explore your challenges and develop strategies to overcome them. My compassionate approach embraces each person’s uniqueness and fosters a safe, encouraging environment that empowers them to engage in the process of change.

Using a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach – one of the recommended treatments for depression and anxiety by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) – I work collaboratively with clients to achieve their identified goals. This type of psychotherapy helps you understand your difficulties and the factors that contribute to their persistence. Together, we will actively develop strategies to better manage these challenges, and will regularly review your progress and experience in therapy.

In the Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) approach – also recommended by NICE as an effective treatment for depression – we will focus on resolving your depression and improving the quality of your relationships.

Depression may be triggered by significant life events such as the breakdown of a relationship, job loss, declining physical health or other major transition. It may also stem from bereavement, ongoing conflict in an important relationship, or difficulties in forming and maintaining relationships. When depression sets in, it can further interfere with your ability to navigate relationships, perpetuating the cycle of depression. In therapy, we will work together to resolve your depression and develop strategies for managing relationships more effectively, allowing you to build more fulfilling connections that positively impact your mental health.
